Why Winterize Your Car Wash 2017-01-09T12:09:51-04:00

Project Description

Boilers, water heaters, floor heat systems and components all need to be checked, fired and cycled to ensure proper operation. There is nothing worse than waiting to start up these systems until the onset of winter and finding out they don’t work. Summer/fall is the best to check for proper operation and winterize your car wash.

WINTER PREP CHECKLIST

  1. Inspect and test all units and water heaters
  2. Check fluid levels
  3. Check glycol – change if needed
  4. Check system pressure – pressure test
  5. Check for leaks and valve functionality
  6. Inspect boilers and burners
  7. Make sure burners are clean and clear
  8. Check heat exchangers and scale build-up in tubing
  9. Do a combustion analysis
  10. Check all piping and exhaust emissions
  11. Look over your control system, electronics and connections
  12. Check de-icing system and set points
  13. Make sure manifolds are functioning properly
  14. Check your zone pumps for efficient operation
  15. Evaluate your gas and electric output/costs

GAS AND ELECTRIC RATES VARY CONSTANTLY

Evaluate previous years of winter-season bills and come up with an average usage. Use these numbers to determine if it makes sense to lock in a rate, prepay, go with the standard month-to-month billing, or shop for better gas rates. If you’ve never considered these options before, contact your local utility suppliers and ask them for a list of pricing options.
